It's basically come to the point where I do not have the time investment to justify paying for a sub anymore - ima pretty casual and play at my own pace.
I will not play F2P games with micro-transactions (imagine my horror when I found out that GW2 is going to implement that - especially since I was looking forward to playing that next).
What I like about Guild Wars so far is that it reminds so much of Final Fantasy
I'm hoping that the deal on the trilogy is not a last ditch effort to make some quick cash before they pull the plug as I am looking forward to get deep into this game. At the same time, I hope that a lot of new people like myself will discover this gem and build up a new player base and keep this thing alive for another 5 years!
As for GW2, micro-transactions aside, I prolly make an exception and dish out for the pre-order. My original intentions was to get the hall of monuments perks offered through GW1, so here I be.

To be fair, micro-transactions are likely to be like those already in GW, paying for sparkly stuff (costumes etc) or additional content (Bonus Mission Pack) and not key to progressing in the game... but who can tell at this stage. I mean, GW2 has crafting....
Like Thunder above me, GW is the game I keep coming back to. It's simply gorgeous, the attention to detail is amazing , the gameplay is fun and the load screens are short. Newer games, like Dragon Age (which owes a shitload to GW, btw...), bore me quickly. When I spend that much time loading, it can get lost.

I was in a very small but cosy guild for over six years and we completed everything together.
It was fun but left an empty feeling for us since there was nothing left for us to do (unreachable stuff excluded).
Two months ago my guildleader and good friend was the last to leave gw and I was all alone for a while.
Then he called me and told me he wasn't getting GW2, he just didn't want to start another mmorgp.
So after a lot of thinking I left the guild I served for such a long time and joined a gw2 oriented alliance that needs and offers tons of help and fun.
I rediscovered the fun in GW and in a guild!

To be honest, the only reason I go online these days is to get footage for my Youtube channel. Ever since I got 45/50 in the HOM, I'm pretty much done with the game. I hate grinding, so I'm just giving all my money away and playing other stuff in my free time.

Honestly, nothing in GW is unreachable for anyone. ^^ You just have to get the picture, understand how it works

What kept me playing was a good guild. But that went south and now not much is keeping my interest so may be done fairly soon unless I can find good people again.

It's not a cookie cutter WoW clone. And so every time I thought I had quit, I never really did.

Well. I just got my 10th legendary guardian, and my 10th Heavy equipment pack.
Time for Masters of the North and the last equipment pack, I guess.
I wonder if I'll get 10 GWAMM before GW2 gets released at this pace...

The thing that keeps me playing is that after nearly 7 years I can still do something new, or failing that do something old but in a new way.
I got my GWAMM, I got my 50/50. I tried to quit. I really did, but I keep coming back for more.

i've been beta test GW1 and chosed it over WOW. what keep me playing is that some dude offer $650 for my account and i say "OK" so now i'm stuck at a new one with 30/50.
i'll see if i can get more point but i'm tired and refuse to buy gold. might just stay at 30/50
anyway, i dont might GW2 cash shop but i'm 100% again selling exp and drop which make GW2 no different from free to play game.

My LDoA-in-training.
Finishing all campaigns on all characters.
Getting the armor I want (which requires playing through most/all of a campaign).
Trying new builds.
